Millet’s is the Best First Scoop to Infants


The increasing incidence of lifestyle diseases which are linked with relatively poor nutritive composition of fine cereals, the consumption of millets will be more pronounced, owing to their superior composition of nutrients and minerals. Overall, at least 40% increase in millet consumption over the current levels is expected to be attained by the next decade. They are also less common among processors due to lack of Technical knowledge. An IT based corporate firm, who is very passionate about food, desired to kick-start his venture in Food sector. They wanted to position themselves in the Healthy-foods category by developing value-added millet based products. they also had the idea of developing healthy foods for kids’. Being new to Agri-business, they fancied to have a consultant to work and develop a product that meets consumer needs.

Key issues:

  • Customizing the effective Formulation meeting RDA requirements of Kids by using different millets as each millet contributed to unique parameters.
  • Challenges with respect to Technology to develop First time Instant Porridge based from Millets by retaining the better Nutrition.



With highly qualified infant product development team, Food buddies were able to formulate millet-based porridge mixes. These mixes were tested based on nutritional characteristics and Compete with MNC with very strong USP (Unique selling Point) as Millet source with higher Nutrition.
